Obituary of Lawrence David Byron

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Larry Byron, surrounded by his brothers and sister, on April 13, 2024, following a long period of declining health.

Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Valerie (Whalen) and late Emmett Byron. He was a proud Sunny Brae boy and was very content to be spending his last few months back in ‘The Brae’ at Sunset Village Special Care Home, with the wonderful staff and residents who we thank for welcoming and caring for Larry.
Larry loved chatting with people on the phone and social get togethers, especially when there was an opportunity to talk about Nascar Racing or the Toronto Blue Jays, while drinking a Tim’s coffee.

As an individual living with an intellectual disability, Larry found the years he spent as a member of Inclusion Advocacy of South East New Brunswick to be a rewarding opportunity. Thank you to Connie and the IASENB members. Larry was also a member of The Irish Canadian Cultural Association and the Braesiders.

Larry loved his family, who will miss him greatly; sister Claudia McCloskey (Art), brothers Andy (Lorraine) and Jeff (Paula), nephews and nieces Mitchell, Marshall, Bridget, Jessica, Abby, Mike, Chris, Alec and Megan, and several great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by his lifelong friends Sandy Reeves and Mike Ogden. Thank you to friends Al, Patricia and Zack, Peter and Kris; and to Dr. Hudson and office staff Anita and Jessica. Also, appreciation is expressed to the staff of the Emergency Department of The Moncton Hospital, who cared for Larry.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 19 from 6-8pm at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544). Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Carlos Jacinto at St. Bernard’s Church, 11 am Saturday, April 20, after which a reception and sharing of memories will take place in the parish hall. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery at a later date

In lieu of flowers, donations to Inclusion Advocacy of South East New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.
